In-Door Air Quality during Fire Season in Bozeman, Mt.

Breathe Easier with a whole house air purifier

Wildfires and forest fires are an ongoing concern where there is dry, hot weather. During a wildfire, people throughout the surrounding area may suffer the effects of the smoke. Talk with your doctor about how to prepare for this smoke, especially if you or someone in the family fits into one of these categories: works outdoors; is under age 18 or over age 65; or has asthma, COPD or other lung diseases, chronic heart disease, or diabetes. Monitor your breathing and exposure to the smoke. If problems develop, call your physician immediately.

General Recommendations stay indoors: People living close to the fire-stricken areas should remain indoors and avoid breathing smoke, ashes and other pollution in the area. When in the car, roll up your car windows: When driving your car in smoky areas, keep your windows and vents closed. Air conditioning should only be operated in the "recirculate" setting.

Protect the air in your home: Stay inside as much as possible, with doors, windows and fireplace dampers shut and preferably with clean air circulating through air conditioners and air cleaners. Use air conditioners on the recirculation setting to keep from pulling outside air into the room. Air cleaning devices that have HEPA filters can provide added protection from the soot and smoke. Place damp towels under the doors and other places where the outside air may leak in. If you don't have vented filtered system and the cost for some of these remedies is more than you are able to handle, even a 21"x21" fan with a furnace filter on the back will help clean the air. The fan will hold the filer in place. The best you could do is have a Reme Halo whole house air purifier installed in your air duct system. With the Halo, it will purify every cubic ft in your home every 30 minutes, and it really works. I installed one in my home and loved it so much I became a distributor.

RISKS TO ASTHMA AND COPD SUFFERERS

Indoor Air Quality in Billings, MT.

IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS
A report from the American Lung Association with help from The Environmental Protection Agency states "it has identified indoor air quality as one of the top five most urgent environmental risks to public health". This survey commissioned on behalf of the American Lung Association Health House program and 3M in April of 2002 found that many of those questioned were not aware of: (a) the potential dangers associated with poor indoor air; (b) steps to improve air quality in their homes." Five hundred forty homeowners nationwide responded to the survey.

RISKS TO ASTHMA AND COPD SUFFERERS
According to an article by the American Lung Association - "Fine particles are easily inhaled deeply into the lungs where they can be absorbed into the bloodstream or remain embedded for long periods of time. A recent study showed a 17% increase in mortality risk in areas with higher concentrations of small particles." and "Particulate matter air pollution is especially harmful to people with lung disease such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Exposure to particulate air pollution can trigger asthma attacks and cause wheezing, coughing, and respiratory irritation in individuals with sensitive airways."

WHAT YOU CAN DO, AND SHOULD DO
Clean your air ducts

What accumulates inside your air ducts is amazing. Just for an example, each person will shed around 8 lbs of skin/year. Now factor in the # of people and if that isn't bad enough, dust mites live on the dead skin. and multiply that by the age of your home. We will also find construction debris like sawdust, paint overspray, sheetrock dust, insulation, etc. inside your vents. This is the dust you will see on your kitchen countertops, tables, picture frames and every other flat surface in your home. The cost of having your heat and cooling vents cleaned will cost on average around $350/$400.

Sometimes it will be very helpful to have your air vents sanitized. The reviews received from those with allergies have been wonderful with our system of disinfectant. All environmentally friendly with documented certifications. Our system is much different from the fogger everyone else uses and will run on average an extra $150/$250/home depending on the # of vents.

The REME HALO® in-duct air purifier utilizes RGF’s patent-pending Reflective Electro Magnetic Energy technology. Installed into the supply plenum of your existing air conditioning or heating system air ducts, cleans every cubic ft of air in your home every 30 minutes. the REME HALO® in-duct air purifier produces a Hydro-Peroxide plasma that is distributed through the air handler, through the duct system, and into the conditioned living space. Unlike passive air technologies, which need pollutants to pass through the unit for purification or filtration, the REME HALO® in-duct air purifier sweeps through your home actively purifying pollutants at the source. In addition, the charged plasma induces particles to coagulate or stick together making them bigger and easier for your filter to catch. Hydro-Peroxide occurs naturally in the earth’s atmosphere and is part of nature’s process of cleaning the air.
